Welcome to Rhapsody

Rhapsody is a collection of Sunday afternoon Tea Dances/Freestyles and Workshops normally twice a month where carefully selected music tracks allow dancers to indulge in more expressive dancing.

Whether it's Modern Blues, Argentinian Tango, Smooth Jive or any other dance style, the 4 hours of music will encourage dancers to express their musicality in any way they feel like doing so.

In addition, the Rhapsody Plus events include a 2 hour Workshop before the 4 hour Tea Dance/Freestyles, and are held approximately once a month.

The Workshops range from Fundamentals of Modern Blues to Advanced Modern Blues with the resident Dance Instructors but also include special Workshops from some guest instructors.

The Fundamentals Workshops are suitable for beginners to Modern Blues as well as offering plenty of substance for improvers.
The Advanced Modern Blues Workshops require the dancer to have some proficiency in Modern Blues.

All events must be booked in advance.

Note : These events are not Traditional Blues dancing events and although the music played includes some Blues music, it also embraces many other genres.

Rhapsody Events
Owing to the circumstances, it has become evident that Rhapsody events will all have to be booked and paid for in advance. In order to do this, a booking system has been installed to allow people to book and pay in advance.
All dancers are required to register on the Rhapsody site. Registration is open and dancers can register immediately.
However no bookings will be available until Events are allowed to continue.
Once registered and events become available, bookings can be made and paid for using Paypal or Credit Card.
This ensures that you do not have to send sensitive financial information and your details are kept safe.
However, each person may only book a single ticket for themselves for each event.
This is for traceability and to assist with gender balance.

It looks like there is hope for dancing in the fairly near future. Based on the Government roadmap to the relaxation of lockdown rules, it appears that June 21st will be the earliest that we will be able to hold a Rhapsody event as long as everything goes well. May events and the June 13th event have been cancelled but it looks like the June 27th events could go ahead. Rather than holding a Workshop, the doors will open at 12:00 and there will be a half-hour session of "Back To Blues" with Taina, at no charge. The rest of the normal Workshop time will be for people to get reacquainted with each other and have the opportunity to dance while the dancefloor will be relatively empty. Music will be provided throughout that time.

There is no problem with people just turning up for this session and not staying for the later freestyle. However, everyone who attends, must register on the website and book a place on either the Workshop/reacquaint session and/or the freestyle. Charges will only apply to the freestyle. Registration is open now but bookings will not be available until it is confirmed that it is permissible to hold Rhapsody events once more.

If anyone has any signs of illness, of whatever sort, they are urgently requested to not attend any Rhapsody events.
